The University has invested strongly within the research base through its Global Talent Attraction Programme, an inter-disciplinary approach across seven Strategic Research Themes: Advanced manufacturing & materials, Energy, Health & Wellbeing, Innovation & entrepreneurship, Measurement science & enabling technologies, Ocean, air and space, Society & Policy.The Health & Wellbeing theme encompasses Strathclyde’s Institute for Medical Devices, the emerging neurotechnology initiative and the established Centre for Biophotonics.
