Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (Italy)

IIT aims to promote excellence in basic and applied research and to promote the development of the national economy. The construction of IIT’s laboratories began in 2006 and ended in 2009. Since 2009, the Institute’s scientific activity has been further strengthened with the creation of:

  • the Central Research Laboratories  (a network of 4 hubs) in Genoa 
  • 11 IIT research centres in Italy (in Turin, two in Milan, Trento, Rome, two in Pisa, Naples, Lecce, Ferrara and Venice)
  • 2 outstations located abroad (MIT and Harvard in the US)
